Brown Paper Packages - Part 2

Updated: Apr 27, 2018

Wrapping with yarn is great because it builds

anticipation for the crocheted goody that is inside.

Here is another step by step pattern to make this super cute wrapping. You can find some other tutorials for wrapping your gifts here.

Brown Paper Packages (Part 1)

Baby bootie shoe boxes

For this little project you need:

A wrapped present.

Card (Here is a link to a tutorial to make the card in the pictures.)

Yarn - I used worsted weight for the yarn in the picture.

Each row should have 10 stitches when finished.

Starting with a long tail - Ch 12. We want the tail to be long because later on we will use this tail to tie the piece around the box.

Row 1: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 1, sk 1, 7 dc.

Row 2: Turn, Ch 2 (Counts as a stitch now and throughout), 5 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 3 dc.

The arrow is pointing to where you need to place the last dc.

Row 3: Turn, Ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 5 dc.

Row 4: Turn, Ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 5 dc.

Row 5: Turn, Ch 2, 5 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 3 dc.

Row 6: Turn, Ch 2, 1 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 7 dc.

Row 7: Turn, Ch 2, 7 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc.

Row 8: Turn, Ch 2, 1 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 7 dc.

Row 9: Turn, Ch 2, 5 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 3 dc.

Row 10: Turn, Ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 5 dc.

Row 11: Turn, Ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 5 dc.

Row 12: Turn, Ch 2, 5 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 3 dc.

Row 13: Turn, Ch 2, 1 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 7 dc.

Row 14: Turn, Ch 2, 7 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc.

Row 15: Turn, Ch 2, 1 dc, ch 1, sk 1, 7 dc.

Repeat rows 2-15 until you get a piece that is long enough to wrap all the way around both sides of your box and the top of your box. Fasten off leaving a long tail again.

Now we will have a piece that has two long tails. But needs two more. On my piece they are both on the same side, but if you stop on a different row they might be on opposite sides. No worries either way we just want to add two more pieces to the two corners that do not have tails. I just cut two pieces of yarn, about an arm length long. (If you are wrapping a big box it will need to be longer) Then I just weave a length of yarn into each corner. Now you are ready to tie the piece onto your gift. :o)

Here is the pattern again if you don't want the pictures. :o)
